Les Fils de Teuhpu zu beschreiben oder gar musikalisch einzuordnen ist eigentlich unmöglich. Vielleicht Frank Zappa der mit Monthy Phyton und Eläkeläiset zusammen Chanson und Reggae/Ska-Sounds fabriziert. Ihr versteht was ich meine? Nein? Vielleicht auch Babylon Circus treffen auf, 17 Hippies und Cirqus Alfon? Schon eine Ahnung? Was sagt die Presse? „Ein präzise ausgetüfteltes System aus Bläsersätzen, Banjochords, Skabeats und Vocals […] Arabische und osteuropäische Einflüsse, dazu die Tradition des eigenen Landes gepaart mit südamerikanischen Rhythmen. Interkontinentale Liebesbeziehungen der tanzende Art“ . „Wer einen Spaten mit zwei Nylonsaiten bespannt und diesen als Kontrabass benutzt, wer auf Riesenmuscheln Rocksoli intoniert oder mit einer Posaue scracht, der…“ (HNA 04/2006) …muss jegliche Rock- und Konsumstandards ignorieren können … und ziemlich verrückt sein. Da kann ich Euch beruhigen, sobald die sechs Musiker die Bühne verlassen wirken sie eigentlich ziemlich normal. Aber sie haben im April im Schlachthof/ Kassel eines der abgefahrensten Konzerte hingelegt, die ich in den letzten 10 Jahren erleben durfte. Wer immer noch keine Ahnung was Les Fils de Teuhpu sein könnte, muss sie sich wohl einfach anschauen ;).

The Teuhpu’s still haven’t lost their spirit. Curious music lovers, they like mixing harmonium and rhythmic flavors issued from horizons that are as varied than unexpected. This gives way to a profile of a group out of the ordinary, acoustical and experimenting with electrical sounds, modern and searching for tradition, with a fresh spirit and being able to handle unexpected deepness. Les Fils de Teuhpu practice the delicat art of combining contradiction.
