Zum 10-jährigen Labelbestehen erfüllten sich die notorischen Produzenten illustrer Bands wie Mardi Gras.bb, King Khan oder The Audience (um nur einige wenige zu nennen bei Hazelwood) einen lang gehegten Herzenswunsch und flogen den kanadischen Wahnsinn FRIENDLY RICH mit samt seinen LOLLIPOP PEOPLE nach Europa ein. In Nordamerika durch die musikalische Leitung der Tom Green MTV-Latenightshow bekannt wie Schmidts Katze, ist der exzentrische Barde dem Europäischen Publikum bisher weitestgehend vorenthalten worden. Das sollte sich ändern. Nun bringt Hazelwood tatsächlich auch eine CD in Deutschland heraus. Grund genug den Kanadier nochmal einzuladen! Rar sind sie gesät, aber es gibt sie doch, echte Artisten, die in der Lage sind durch ihre schiere Gegenwart einen Ballsaal vernunftbegabter, emotional stabiler, in aller Regel logisch handelnder Durchschnitts-Konzertgänger in eine Soiree von Freaks zu verwandeln. Dass das, was da tönt, zudem zum Ersprießlichsten gehört, was der internationale Popzirkus zu bieten hat, braucht nicht extra betont zu werden.

Friendly Rich Marsella is a composer from Georgetown, Ontario. Mr. Rich has composed background music for 3 seasons of MTV's "The Tom Green Show". Since 1994, he has recorded exclusively for his own eclectic record label, "The Pumpkin Pie Corporation", with retail distribution across North America by Sonic Unyon Distribution and in Europe by Hazelwood Records. Rich holds a Masters degree in music from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Lee Bartel and composer R. Murray Schafer. In 2006, Friendly Rich developed an extreme vaudeville show called "The Friendly Rich Show" featuring The Lollipop People, puppetry, cartoons, crank calls and much more. Since then, the show has traveled to New York, Montreal, Vienna, Berlin, Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Toronto. In early 2008, Friendly's music has been released in Europe by Hazelwood Records and the Lollipop People just successfully toured Germany and Austria in March. Friendly's newest album DINOSAUR POWER was released in North America in May 2008 by The Pumpkin Pie Corporation. The Lollipop People have performed alongside such artists as Of Montreal (2004), Andy Kim (2005), The Tiger Lillies (2005), Trevor Dunn (2007), the Dresden Dolls (2006, 2008) and The Great Bertholinis (2008). Things are busy with Friendly Rich and The Pumpkin Pie Corporation, but as Friendly says: "one can either produce, or become produce".
